If you’re familiar with the cannabis scene in metro Detroit, then you probably know the name Jerry Millen.

Millen is the owner of the Greenhouse of Walled Lake. And since the day he started operations, he’s made giving back a priority.

Last week, he ensured that at least 500 families who’d hit upon hard times during this pandemic would still be able to enjoy Thanksgiving by providing a delicious and robust turkey at absolutely no cost.

“So many families are dealing with financial hardships due to the Covid-19 pandemic and other factors,” said Millen. “I wanted to assist them so they could have a meaningful Thanksgiving.”

Now, with Christmas right around the corner, he’s looking to “adopt” ten families.

Donating $10,000 to Provide a Joyful Christmas

It’s hard to deny that times are rough right now. Some folks are certainly getting hit harder than others though.

Seeing this discrepancy between the haves and have-nots inspired Millen to find a way to raise $10,000 this Christmas to make it more meaningful and joyful for ten families in metro Detroit.

So he’s collaborated with Walled Lake Mayor, Linda Ackley and five cannabis industry vendors (Kushy Punch, Chill Medicated, Green Dr. CBD, Ubake, and Platinum Vape who each donated $1000) to raise more than $10,000 in food and gifts. This wonderful promotion is available to all metro Detroit residents. And three Walled Lake families are guaranteed to be recipients.

How You Can Help

If you know of a family in need that could benefit from this amazing offer, write a short description explaining the family and the specifics of their situation.

If the family you would like to help is in Walled Lake, send your submission to walledlakechristmas@gmail.com. Mayor Ackley and several city council members will select local families whom they will then shop for and wrap gifts.

For families not located in Walled Lake, you can nominate them by going to https://www.greenhousemi.com/nominate-a-family and filling out the form there.

Entries will be accepted now through December 4th. Winners will be announced on December 7th, with gifts and food being distributed to the winning families the week of December 14th.

“I am so proud to be bringing joy into the lives of Michigan residents who are facing difficult times. The smiling faces of small children are priceless,” says Millen. “Joining forces with cannabis industry heavyweights to raise the necessary money is an honor but I am challenging others, inside and outside of the cannabis industry to do their part as well.”
